Seashells and Beachglass

July 23, 24, 29, and Aug 1

Make your own mug and vase on the wheel. Then learn how to side-fire the pottery on top of seashells in the kiln. This leaves an impression of seashells on the side of the mug. We will also play with drippy glazes and beachglass on the mugs. All the clay and glazes are provided for you.

Some small experience on the wheel is nesicary for this class. You need to be able to center clay on the wheel and make a cylinder.

This is a 4 day (mornings) workshop, 9am to 11am. Day 1 and 2 we will work on the wheel making the pottery. Day 3, you come back and glaze your bisque fired piece. Day 4 we see the results and sand smooth the seashell imprints.

You will need to bring:

• A dremel rotary tool (I will provide the cleaning attachments for it) on the last day (day 4).

• Any beach glass or seashells that have special meaning to you. (I have a lot, so you don’t NEED to bring this, but you are welcome to bring your own).
