Amy will try to answer your email as soon as she can. Usually this will be within a 24 to 48 hour window of time, but during busy seasons it could take up to a week. Amy thanks you for understanding that her hands are more than likely covered in clay and it’s hard to answer emails like that!
She has written up some Frequently Asked Questions (and answers) that could also help you out. You might want to have a look below to see if your question is there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a specific piece?
People will ask me if they can place an order for a specific piece of pottery that they would like to buy. I open up Pre-orders a few times a year. This is when I’ll put a selection of pottey on the website store before making any of it. You get to order what you’d like me to make, then I take about 2 months to make it for you. You get notified when it’s all finished.
Other than these specific pre-order times, I do not take orders on demand. However, if you have a request for a large dinner set order in 1 glaze design, I do occasionally take those orders. Please reach out to me with that request (8 settings or larger).
Can I pick up my order at your studio and not pay for shipping costs?
Yes! I have an option during the checkout process where you can select “Studio Pickup” rather than have your order shipped. There are certain days after your order is processed that your order will be available to pick up in Middle Sackville, NS. If you select “Studio Pickup” with your order, you will get an email when your order is fulfilled with an address and pickup times.
Can I come shopping at your studio?
I do not have a store readily available for shopping at my studio… at this time. I am hopeful to begin having a few in-person shopping events throughout the year. If you would like to keep informed of when these open studio events are happening, please feel welcome to sign up for my email list (via the main page).
Do you offer 1 time pottery lessons?
I do! But only at certain times during the year. One time pottery lessons are called “Try Pottery”. They are 2 hours of fun, playing at the wheel with a small class size, and complete beginners are welcome! Clay is provided and each student can pick their favourite piece they made to be finished and fired for them. I will always send out an email to the people who have signed up for our email list about any lessons I’ll be having. you can sign up for that email list on my website homepage.
Do you offer kiln rentals?
Yes! We have a convenient kiln booking calendar where you can see available dates and book firings at a time that works for you. You can book 1 shelf up to a full kiln load. We fire our bisque loads to cone 05 and our glaze loads to cone 6. Special firings programs and temperatures are also available when you book a full kiln. You will get a specific drop off time, where you meet the potter who will be firing your work, as well as a specific pick-up time; there’s no more wondering when your work will be finished!
Do you offer pottery classes near me?
Yes! Wabi Scotia Pottery offers beginner-friendly pottery classes in Nova Scotia every 2 months. These lessons are 8 weeks long, happening once a week. You are guaranteed a wheel, lots of workspace at long work tables, and lots of colourful glazes to use. We also have more experienced lessons called “Continuing Pottery” for more advanced students. While other studios try to squeeze as many students as possible into a small space to make more money, we focus on small class sizes for better quality instruction; a max of 5 students in each class! We are located in Middle Sackville, a very central location that is close to Dartmouth, Halifax, Bedford, and Windsor too! Usually we’re just a 15 - 20 minute drive away.
