Continuing Pottery - Monday Evenings
Continuing Pottery
Monday Evenings 6pm to 9pm
October 5th - November 30th
No class - October 12th, Thanksgiving Day
There will be a total of 8 lessons. Each lesson is 3 hours long.
Who’s it for? People who have had some experience with pottery through taking a beginner lesson (at least 6 classes). If you can wedge clay, can center on the wheel sometimes, and make a bowl & a cup (but you definitely would like more practice doing these things), well, this class is for you!
We will play around with making different shapes on the wheel, practice throwing larger amounts of clay, and perfect our trimming & glazing skills. Possible projects are: chip'n dip bowl, stacking bowls, lids, travel cups, wall vases, carving & stamps, and perfecting our mug shapes.
Winter conditions- if the roads are too dangerous because of a snowstorm, the class will be rescheduled.
What you get:
8 “sessions”, 3 hours each
Your own guaranteed wheel each class, no waiting or sharing
Large worktables to spread out at - no cramped spaces!
A shelf/cubby to store works in progress
Kiln space to fire your 10 pounds of clay.
Use of studio glazes! 15 - 16 fun colors of glaze to play with.
10 pounds of Cone 6 stoneware clay (Tucker’s Mid Smooth Stone)
Additional purchase options:
Extra clay and additional space in the kiln. (*to be made/used during class time, not at home*)
*Things to know - Shorter nails are easier for making pottery. Pottery is a physical activity; sometimes a bad back or arthritis can stop someone from being able to work at the wheel. We do not have the ability to offer free makeup classes if you are sick or have a vacation (though there is a makeup class date you can purchase for an additional fee).
